A Renewal You Can Plan Around
HostGator says its promo price is a discount on the first invoice only, and the plan renews at the regular rate after the initial term. Here the renewal is the same price as month one, every month.
Most people who call us from HostGator are not unhappy with the panel. They are looking at a renewal and asking whether they want another three years of it.

The headline HostGator price is quoted for a 36-month term. We bill month to month with no contract. If we are not the right fit, you can cancel any month.
HostGator and Bluehost sit in the same group at Newfold Digital. Moving between the two changes the logo more than the company. We are one Ohio business, owned and run by Noah Stertzbach since 2022.
The other side
Timing matters more than anything on a HostGator move. Here is when you should not move yet, or at all.
You paid for it. Use it. The best time to move is a month or two before the renewal invoice, not halfway through a term you cannot get back.
HostGator's terms say cancelling in the first year means paying a non-refundable domain fee. Read that before you cancel. It may be cheaper to wait out the year.
If you are an agency running a reseller account with your own clients under it, we are not built to replace that. Our Business plan handles many domains for one owner, not a hosting business.
We are a small Ohio business with weekday hours. If your site needs a person on the phone overnight, we are not that.
If your renewal is coming up and your site brings in customers, that is the window. Call us a month before the date and we will have it done in time.
The move
This is a cPanel to cPanel move, so it is mostly a copy. The part people get wrong is the timing, which is why we start with the calendar.
We do the backup, the restore, and the DNS. You check the preview and turn off auto-renew at the end.
We start with the date and the amount on your HostGator renewal, so the move lands before the invoice does. That one date sets the whole schedule.
HostGator runs cPanel, so this is a standard full account backup: files, databases, email accounts, and settings in one archive. Nothing changes on the HostGator side.
The account goes up on our server and you check the site on a temporary address. Forms, logins, and anything that takes money get tested before anything points here.
Because the cPanel backup carries the mailboxes, mail usually comes across whole. We still test send and receive from your phone and computer before DNS changes.
We lower the TTL, change the records, and watch both ends. Once the site has run here for a few days, you turn off auto-renew at HostGator so the next invoice never comes.
About a month before your HostGator renewal date. That leaves time to test without rushing, and you are not paying for two hosts for long.
It is one of the easier ones. HostGator uses cPanel, we use cPanel, and a full account backup moves the site, the databases, and the email together.
It is yours either way. You can keep it registered at HostGator and point it here, or transfer it to another registrar. Check the cancellation terms on the free domain if you are still in your first year.
Most moves can be done with little to no downtime when DNS is planned right. Your HostGator site keeps running until the copy here is approved and the records are switched.
